Position: Mobile Inspector/Auditor I(Manheim) - Southeast Detroit

Mobile Inspector/Auditor I (Manheim) – Southeast Detroit

Join Cox Automotive Inc. as a Mobile Inspector I on the Manheim mobile inspections team within the Southeast Detroit area. You will conduct vehicle condition inspections and provide accurate documentation to support our clients’ inventory evaluation.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior mobile inspectors and management to develop inspection skills.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, including exterior, interior, and mechanical checks.
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients' lots safely.
  • Verify VIN, mileage, and sub-series data; enter accurate vehicle information into the system.
  • Document equipment, options, and any damage or missing items.
  • Prepare and provide daily activity reports to management.
  • Adapt to changing daily appointments to maintain efficiency.
  • Engage clients to build trust and encourage continued inspections.
  • Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador and deliver a premier client experience.
  • Collaborate with the Wholesale Specialist Team and other Manheim work groups.
  • Utilize  for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews.
  • Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
  • Participate in continuous improvement/Lean activities and meet production expectations.
  • Maintain safety procedures and support Safety Excellence initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimal automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) preferred.
  • 0–2 years of automotive related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
  • 100% travel within the region with reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and detail orientation.
  • Experience with handheld documentation devices preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with remote supervision.
  • Multitasking, following directions, and taking instruction required.
  • Physical capability to lift at least 30 lbs, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach.
  • Near‑vision skills for identifying dents, scratches, and color differences.
  • Ability to work under various lighting conditions.
Compensation

Hourly pay range: $15.34 – $23.03 per hour. Pay may vary based on location and candidate experience. Eligible for an annual incentive/commission target.

Benefits

Employees receive at least sixteen hours of paid time off per month, seven paid holidays, and additional leave for bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military, and parental leave.
