Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Lansing has openings for an energetic Lead Aftercare Teacher to join our team. Position SummaryThe Aftercare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool-aged children participating in the school's after-care program. The individual will supervise children during afternoon activities, promote positive social interactions, and support the Catholic mission and values of the preschool. The ideal candidate demonstrates a love for working with young children, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a caring and faith-filled community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide attentive supervision to children ages 3-5 during after-care hours.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and security of all children at all times.
- Assist children with bathroom needs, snacks, and age-appropriate self-help skills as needed.
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios in accordance with state licensing regulations
- Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, stories, outdoor play, and quiet-time activities.
- Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, and respect among children.
- Support children's emotional, physical, social, and spiritual development.
- Prepare materials and clean up activity areas as needed
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Communicate daily with parents regarding children's activities, behavior, and well-being.
- Report concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly to the Preschool Director.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming after-care environment.
- Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements.
- Assist with setting up and closing down after-care spaces.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
- Ability to supervise and engage young children in a group setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and professionalism.
- Practicing Catholic with commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the day.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of required diocesan safe environment training and background checks.
- Compliance with all state licensing and diocesan requirements.

M-F(Part-Time) hours may vary
Hourly compensation commensurate with experience.
