Travel Assistant Superintendent

Overview

WIELAND’s Assistant Superintendents are expected to take ownership and drive a schedule to produce a successful project. They will work directly with the Project Team to provide overall onsite management assistance for the safe and timely completion of the construction project while maintaining the budget.

• Ensure all sub-trades, workers, and suppliers perform according to contract provisions, specifications, and drawings.
• Collaborate with project team to maintain schedule, during the course of the project.
• Maintain document control of all critical information under your responsibility including insurance and contract documentation.
• Assist in preparing daily reports within the current software system with detail and accuracy.
• Maintain a photo library of project progress within the current software system, that is easily accessible and understandable.
• Understand and verify materials, procedures and installation are being performed as required by contract documents.
• Support the Project Team in the field in various capacities from supervision of specific scopes of work/subcontractors, clean-up, task completion verification, and safe work practices.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in company systems and software, as well as continual improvement of overall construction knowledge of means and methods of all scopes of work.
• Monitor and walk the jobsite daily to ensure compliance with current corporate safety standards.
• Collects, organizes, and maintains all subcontractor safety paperwork. Includes JHAs, weekly and monthly paperwork, sub safety policies, SDS, hazcom paperwork, etc.
• Seek daily assistance and clarification from direct supervisor(s).
• Daily coordination and supervision of sub-trades, workers, and suppliers.
• Must have the ability to assist in developing and maintaining a 3-4 week look ahead schedule and hold subcontractors accountable in meeting the schedule.
• Direct weekly or daily jobsite coordination meetings depending on project demands, ensuring meeting minutes are tracked.
• Assist in proactively scheduling inspections to ensure the project stays within the schedule.
• Plan all field operations in a timely manner.
• Ability to develop familiarity with site requirements, materials, and full range of trade division.
• Attend punch list meetings with subcontractors and drive the subcontractor to complete their tasks in an appropriate amount of time.
• Ability to walk all areas of the project site and stand for a long period of time.
• Communicate positively and effectively with other companies, WIELAND project team, and other WIELAND departments.
• Ability to anticipate and prioritize complications and create a plan to reach a solution.
• Proactive with problem solving and solutions when applicable.
• Notify project team of any potential risks and assist in preparing a contingency plan.
• Develop relationships with Owners, Subcontractors, and the Design Team.
• Ability to receive methods for improvement or constructive criticism.
• Actively lead by example and champion diversity in everyday actions and decisions.
