Commercial Roofing Project Manager​/Estimator

For more than 50 years we have built our reputation on quality commercial roofing, long-term customer relationships, and doing things the right way. In this role you will estimate and bid commercial roofing projects, then manage the ones you win through closeout, with a dedicated Field Superintendent reporting to you.

You own the number and you own the delivery against it.

• You have priced commercial roofing work and then lived with the results.
• You read drawings and specifications closely and catch what others miss.
• You are comfortable putting your name on a bid and defending the assumptions behind it.
• You stay organized when you have three active jobs and four bids due the same week.
• You would rather plan ahead than react to a problem on a roof.
• You communicate clearly with customers, general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and field crews.
• You can lead a superintendent and crews without micromanaging them.
• You learn from estimate-versus-actual reviews and get sharper with every job.
• You know the difference between what you can decide and what should be escalated.
• You want to grow with a company that is building a scalable production team.

• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and existing conditions to determine the roofing scope, system, and details.
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs using our estimating software, and price projects using company standards.
• On negotiated work, provide the technical scope, takeoff, and pricing that our Account Managers use to build and present proposals.
• On specified and new-construction work, own the entire bid from invitation through submission, post-bid review, and award.
• After award, manage the project: submittals, purchasing, scheduling, cost control, change orders, customer and GC communication, documentation, and closeout.
• Supervise a dedicated Field Superintendent and make sure the field has the scope, materials, and information it needs.
• Compare actual results to your estimate at the end of every job and carry what you learn into the next one.

• Experience estimating commercial roofing or commercial construction, with a record of accurate takeoffs and pricing.
• Experience managing commercial construction projects from award through completion.
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contracts.
• Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and estimating or project-management software.
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• The ability to manage multiple estimates and projects at once without losing track of the details.
• Commercial roofing experience is preferred;
  Duro-Last or other single-ply experience is a plus.
• A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000 to $105,000 per year, plus performance bonuses

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Work Location: On-site in either Grand Rapids, MI or Lansing, MI, with limited travel to project sites
