Digital News Producer - Wilx

Gray Media, a multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Digital Producer to work on the WILX website, OTT, and social media platforms.

About WILX: WILX, the highly rated NBC affiliate located in Lansing, Michigan, is on a growth trajectory. WILX currently produces 33 hours of news per week and is growing. A market leader in news, digital, and social media, WILX News 10 is home to Emmy award-winning reporters and the recipient of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters “Station of the Year” award.

Job Summary /

Description:

We are looking for a Digital Producer to write and produce multi-media news and features, and keep abreast of breaking news stories and trending topics on social media.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Creating, managing, and editing text, video, and slideshow content for all WILX TV’s digital platforms.
• Aggressively pursuing news tips and reporting on breaking news on digital formats.
• Collaborating with the entire newsroom on developing stories and best practices for digital publishing.
• Research, propose, and develop new and innovative emerging technology strategies.
• Analytics reporting when needed.
• Collaborating with Creative Services team members to create effective content.
• Maintaining regular and timely attendance and flexibility for changing operational needs.

Qualification/Requirements:

• Candidates should be able to work quickly to meet deadlines in a demanding news environment, multitask, and have excellent writing and communication skills.
• Preferred candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or another related field.
• Candidates with experience working in a newsroom or with digital and/or social media are preferred.

Technical Requirements:
Knowledge of graphic, motion, and multimedia software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and HTML
5.
