Responsibilities- We are currently looking for faculty to teach in-person courses at the Downtown Lansing campus. Needed availability is evenings/one night per week. Future semesters may include online teaching assignments and/or classes at the Main or East Campus.
- Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as-needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.
- Adjunct (part-time) faculty in this position teach courses in didactic and externship formats at all levels of Pharmacy Technician training. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will be primarily on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of Externship site and/or online assignments. An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required.
- Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi and professional/industry standards. Duties include planning and preparation of course materials, delivery of instruction to students, assessment and grading, and assisting students outside of class.
- Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed.
- Adjunct faculty in this position must be qualified to teach in one or more of the following courses and subject areas:
Pharmacy Technician (CHSE 235), Pharmacy Technician Externship (CHSE 236). - Commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population and the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
- Part-time Teaching Faculty Workload and related policies (as described in the labor agreement): teaching workload limits for Fall, Spring, and Summer; and the possibility of non-teaching assignments such as course development, curriculum development, student advising, and leadership assignments when workload permits.
- General Adjunct Instructor requirements: primary duty to teach in instructional settings; serve as the faculty of record for courses; responsibility for curriculum planning and development; preparation and delivery of course content; comprehensive assessment and grading; and student consultation/out-of-class support.
- Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Pharmacy from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current unencumbered State of Michigan Registered Pharmacist license; license must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
5 years combined hospital and retail pharmacy technician experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population and as a member of a team.
