Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree (Preferred)
- Teacher Cert (Math or Science focus)
- Providing instruction at the Ingham County Youth Center, an alternative educational setting to juvenile youth that are temporarily detained.
- Deliver instruction in a correctional facility setting to help increase academic achievement.
- Implement and deliver instruction in Math and Science.
- Assist in administering assessment procedures and instruments, both standardized and authentic, to evaluate students’ academic achievement.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of students for evaluation purposes and the monitoring of progress.
- Work collaboratively with ICYC staff, LSD Administrators, and community agencies.
- Facilitate and encourage a learning environment that fosters successful social and academic experiences related to workforce skills and acculturation processes.
- Previous experience working within an alternative setting.
- Administering instruction to youth within the justice system.
- Successful teaching experience at correctional facilities is preferred.
- Ability to support and promote academic instruction and link with Career and Readiness Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from a variety of culture and linguistic backgrounds, age, and language/academic proficiency levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with administrators, teachers, students, and staff as well as under appropriate supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment with a high degree of flexibility is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain standards of professional conduct and work ethics including attendance, punctuality and performance is required.
- Demonstrated ability to actively seek opportunities to grow professionally is desired.
$46,942 - $95,000 a year
