Universal Preschool Guest Associate Teacher

We are hiring an Universal Preschool Guest Associate Teacher in the Lansing School District, a diverse school community in Lansing, MI. This role supports teachers across multiple Universal Preschool sites, ensuring student safety, engagement, and collaboration with families.

Pay Range

$20.00/hr - $23.95/hr (subject to skills and experience)

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate passion for working with and empathy of Universal Preschool and GSRP students.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks as assigned by teachers and school leaders.
  • Ensure safety of students in classroom and comply with Universal Preschool and GSRP requirements.
  • Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions.
  • Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
  • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an existing 120‑hour training approval by MDE.
  • Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with Universal Preschool or GSRP students in an urban setting.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, and move quickly between indoor and outdoor settings for extended periods.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and assist with physical transfers or interventions involving students.
  • Lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent verbal communication to support students, coordinate with staff, and manage emergent situations.
  • Occasional use of computers, radios, and other communication or documentation tools.
  • May be exposed to noise, weather conditions, and other elements associated with a school environment.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Schedule

35 hours per week during the school year. This position works at various schools within the District.
