Adjunct positions are filled by semester on an as-needed basis. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

Adjunct and Lab Instructors at the Mid-Michigan Police Academy deliver instruction aligned with Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Applicants must be MCOLES certified or previously certified and prepared to teach subjects such as Court Functions, Crime Scene Investigation, Legal Report Writing, Special Investigations, Motor Vehicle Code, and Crash Reports/UD-10.
Instruction is primarily face-to-face, with online components as needed. The selected candidate will also serve as a part-time lab instructor. Compensation rates differ for adjunct and lab instructor roles.
Under the direction of the Police Academy Coordinator, instructors will collaborate with lead instructors to provide classroom and lab instruction, assist students, support instructional activities, prepare instructional spaces, and evaluate student performance. Teaching approaches should meet diverse learning needs while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to supporting the College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support the Academy’s operations.
Regular on-campus presence is expected. Flexible or hybrid schedules are subject to change based on college needs.
Final candidates will undergo a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required Qualifications:- Three (3) years’ experience as a certified MCOLES Police Officer

If an educational degree is required, unofficial transcripts from each higher education institution where a degree was conferred or coursework completed are required. For foreign credentials, applicants must contact a NACES credential evaluation service (e.g., ECE, WES, IERF) and submit the evaluation with their application.
