Responsibilities- Teach non-credit Court Electronic Operator (CEO) and Court Electronic Recorder (CER) Certification Exam Preparation courses through the Community Education and Workforce Development Division (CEWD). Courses are taught online.
- Support individuals pursuing the State of Michigan certification exam for professional distinction by delivering exam preparation content.
- Manage teaching workload within the limits described: up to 12 workload hours in Fall, up to 12 in Spring, and up to 10 in Summer, including preparation, assessment, and student consultations.
- Engage in non-teaching duties as assigned (e.g., course development or revision, curriculum development, student advising, leadership assignments) provided workload remains within the nominal equivalent of 30 clock hours per week.
- Serve as the faculty of record for assigned courses, plan and deliver curriculum, and conduct comprehensive assessment and grading.
- Maintain regular on-campus presence when required by the college and adhere to employment practices.
- Associate’s Degree
- Demonstrated knowledge of the court electronic recorder and court electronic operator profession and/or experience working as a court reporter in the State of Michigan
- Excellent written communication skills, including solid knowledge of proper punctuation
- Experience teaching, including online, and familiarity with sound online pedagogical practices
- Experience working as a professional court reporter in the State of Michigan
- Knowledge of the Manual for Court Reporters and Recorders – Michigan Courts
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Experience using a court reporter’s pedal and related software
