Specialist II, Safety & Health (EHS)

SummaryFocus on improving SH&E at the facility by using your experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong SH&E culture. Evaluate workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company SH&E standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation.
Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable SH&E regulations and standards.
- Worked in one or more plant-wide safety, health and/or environmental programs
- ISO 14001 certification process and lead the Environmental Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all environmental programs
- Ensure hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
- Conduct daily line walks to ensure SH&E practices are being observed and to note any at‑risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non‑compliance with any SH&E related policies/regulations
- Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership
- Lead cross‑functional teams to drive improvements across the organization
- Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
- Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
- Participate in emergency response drills and critiques
- Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other SH&E related training topics
- Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Communicate with LGESMI SH&E colleagues around the globe
- Maintain cleanliness at work‑site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain;
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container - Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field; MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
- 3‑6 years of experience in SH&E programs in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated cross‑functional work experience
- Experience with ISO 14001:2015 certification
- MS Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
- Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical safety is a plus
- Must be comfortable working in a team setting
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports
- Positive attitude, self‑driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
- Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
