Position Overview

HDR seeks a Geotechnical Business Class Lead to engage nationally in deep foundation design and construction, fostering a cohesive geotechnical community of practice across the southeast US (FL, AL, MS, TN, SC). The role involves representing HDR's geotechnical capabilities to clients, developing technical expertise within HDR, and supporting strategic growth through staff development and market engagement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate technical competencies in deep foundation design and construction.
  • Engage in project approach reviews for optimal team deployment.
  • Select, mentor, and manage geotechnical staff.
  • Promote the geotechnical practice and establish industry partnerships.
  • Contribute to HDR’s geotechnical standards and best practices.
  • Participate in strategic planning and project management.
  • Develop marketing strategies, proposals, and represent HDR to clients.
  • Collaborate with HDR’s geotechnical leadership to align strategies.
  • Facilitate national training programs and maintain instructor credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE registration in AL, FL, MS, SC, or TN within 6 months.
  • Expertise in deep foundation construction and claim mitigation.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software and analysis of static, dynamic, and seismic foundations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional engineering registration.
  • Experience managing diverse teams and collaborating across business units.
