CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist with experience modeling contaminant transport through sediment caps and/or a working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) in remediation projects, combined with basic geotechnical engineering experience related to remediation projects located anywhere within the United States.

• Understand the scientific and engineering principles of modeling contaminant fate and transport through sediment caps in subaqueous systems. Experience with Cap Sim is preferred.
• Use CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and/or soil excavation projects, including the ability to follow direction from a senior engineer with minimal continual oversight.
• Perform slope stability modeling.
• Develop field sampling programs and perform subsequent data analyses to support conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes, including interpretation of sediment cores and bathymetric surveys.
• Develop, calibrate, and apply numerical and/or desktop models.
• Evaluate the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assist in developing sediment remediation designs for large contaminated sediment sites involving multiple stakeholders.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s primary interface with clients on complicated sediment tasks; assess and understand problems and communicate a technical strategy to the client.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties, responsibilities, and workload. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).

Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
