Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Overview
Our partner, a cannabis company based in Lansing, MI, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations. The role will be responsible for accurate, compliant, and timely reporting, daily accounting functions, internal controls, and supporting strategic business decisions. Cannabis industry experience is a plus but not required—candidates with strong accounting leadership skills from a variety of industries are welcome.
CompensationBase pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $/yr
Compensation: Base salary range: $90,000 – $120,000, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time | In-Person
Key Responsibilities- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Lead month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Maintain accurate balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Oversee billing, cash handling, vault reconciliation, and daily sales imports
- Handle sales, use, and excise tax filings, and track accrued property taxes
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and fixed assets/depreciation
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal SOPs
- Maintain and improve accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Leaflink, Dutchie)
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports to support decision-making
- Lead and develop accounting staff through training, coaching, and performance management
- Proficiency in accounting software systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT)
- Proficiency in cannabis-specific systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Leaflink, Dutchie)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance
- Experience in the cannabis industry is preferred
- Proven ability in auditing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, team development, and problem-solving abilities
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong attention to detail
