THE OPPORTUNITYZaddy Solutions is serving as the recruiting partner for a growing client in the transportation and logistics industry.
This is a newly created position designed to strengthen how the company evaluates new business, monitors operational performance, and makes financial decisions.
Winning new business is only valuable when it performs the way the financial model predicted. This person will work on both sides of that equation. You will build pricing and profitability models before opportunities are awarded, then measure how the business performs once the work begins.
The role sits at the intersection of Finance, Sales, Operations, Account Management, IT, and executive leadership.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN- Commercial pricing: Develop financial models for RFPs, contract opportunities, competitive bids, and spot-rate requests.
- Opportunity evaluation: Analyze volume, capacity, service requirements, fuel, transportation costs, contractor expenses, and market conditions to determine whether an opportunity makes financial sense.
- Post-award performance: Compare actual revenue, volume, cost per unit, and margin against the assumptions used to win the business.
- Variance analysis: Identify performance gaps early, determine what is driving them, and recommend pricing, operational, or contractual changes.
- Margin improvement: Use financial and operational data to identify opportunities to improve profitability across existing business.
- Executive visibility: Develop dashboards, KPIs, and recurring reporting that give senior leadership a clear view of operational and financial performance.
- Financial decision support: Build models for operational investments, commercial decisions, and other projects requiring leadership review.
- Reporting standards: Create consistent definitions and reporting practices so Finance, Sales, Operations, and Account Management are working from the same information.
- Process automation: Improve recurring reports, reduce manual work, strengthen data quality, and shorten turnaround times.
- Cross-functional partnership: Work across IT, Operations, Finance, Sales, Account Management, and the C-suite to turn analysis into action.
- AI-enabled analysis: Use current AI tools responsibly to improve research, modeling, reporting, workflow efficiency, and executive-ready communication.
- At least five years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, operational finance, pricing analysis, or a closely related area.
- Strong understanding of corporate financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow statement.
- Demonstrated experience building financial models that support pricing, margin analysis, RFP responses, operational investments, or other business decisions.
- Strong understanding of margin, unit economics, cost-to-serve, working capital, and operational performance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with complex models and large data sets.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or another business-intelligence platform.
- Working knowledge of current AI tools and practical experience using them within analytical or business workflows.
- Experience presenting complex analysis and recommendations to senior executives.
- Ability to communicate effectively across Finance, IT, Operations, Sales, Account Management, and executive leadership.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Transportation, logistics, automotive, or another operationally complex industry.
- SQL or another data-querying language.
- Experience working with TMS, ERP, or financial-system data.
- Net Suite or comparable ERP experience.
- Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring analysts.
- Familiarity with GAAP and the relationship between operational activity and financial results.
- New business opportunities are priced using realistic operational and financial assumptions.
- Leadership can see how awarded business is performing against its original economics.
- Margin issues are identified before they become larger financial problems.
- Sales, Operations, Account Management, and Finance work from consistent performance metrics.
