This position offers a $2,000 (1 year stay-on agreement) or 4,000 (2 year stay-on agreement) Sign On Bonus with the agency! This bonus will be provided upon completion of a probationary period. Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Correctional Assessment & Treatment Services (CATS) Coordinator, serves as a Master’s level professional clinician performing a wide range of therapeutic services for consumers in the Clinton County Jail. This position will conduct risk assessments, substance use assessments, case management needs assessments, formulate extensive discharge plans, and work closely with Peer Recovery Coaches and consumers to coordinate services in the community.
Assesses functional and dysfunctional behavior, provides crisis intervention services, and provides direct substance use and/or co-occurring treatment via individual/group therapy to incarcerated individuals. May be responsible for coordination of substance use residential placements. Acts as liaison between CMH, Jail Medical Department and the Clinton County Jail. Assesses inmates in an effort to determine level of care or possible jail diversion to either the CEI system or the community.
May need to maintain contact with probation officers and will be responsible for compliance with court orders and associated documentation. Maintains the jail’s electronic memo system. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub‑unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is required or must be obtained within 60 days of application. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required or must have applied for and be able to obtain within 60 days of hire. One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in treating or working with a person who has a substance use disorder required or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons who have a substance use disorder required.
Must be a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or must become certified within a maximum of 3 years from date of hire or change in regulation. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use required.
Offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of:
Michigan State Police clearance check, Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) review, verification of a professional license, county jail background check, Medicaid/Medicare verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history. Candidate must be able to pass annual LEIN review. Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug screen.

Salary/Hours$60,604 – $68,790 annually with scheduled, annual increases that can result in a salary of $79,538. 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, flexible schedule option – TBD. Some evenings may be considered based on program needs.
