Overview
The Battle Creek VA Medical Center’s Psychiatry Service is hiring a Psychologist to serve in the outpatient mental health clinic in Lansing, MI. This position has primarily clinical duties in outpatient clinics. The incumbent diagnoses mental disorders, conducts psychological assessments, treats mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
Duties- Psychological assessment and consultation: interviewing and/or testing of patients, consulting with staff, making recommendations for evaluations, overseeing administration and scoring of assessments, interpreting findings, and reporting in the medical record in a timely fashion; assist in integrating findings into the treatment plan.
- Psychological treatment: conduct psychological and/or brief/basic neuropsychological assessments; treat mental health problems in patients in outpatient and, if applicable, inpatient settings; apply behavioral health techniques to address medical/mental health conditions; assist patients with health behaviors, smoking cessation, pain management, treatment adherence, and chronic/terminal illness; develop or participate in therapy groups.
- Research: opportunity to develop hypotheses and research designs; prepare or implement research programs on personal time; route for IRB/ethics approvals; potential to collaborate on research projects; may present information related to education activities.
- Education and training: provide supervision to psychology students and interns as mutually agreed; conduct seminars or case conferences.
Work schedule:
Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm.
Basic Requirements
:
- United States Citizenship
- English language proficiency
- Education:
Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA/PCSAS/CPA-accredited program (or equivalent re-specialization/older degree provisions as described in the vacancy) - Internship: APA/CPA-accredited or eligible programs; or equivalent requirements per VA policy
- Licensure: full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the U.S.
Experience
:
For GS-13, at least 2 additional years of professional psychology experience post-Doctorate, with at least one year at the GS-12 level or equivalent; experience must include active practice and appropriate licensure; creditable experience is post-doctoral and related to duties performed.
