Job OverviewWe are seeking a high‑energy, self‑starter to drive key human resources and employee relations initiatives at our Lansing, Michigan facility, supporting 600+ employees across 5 plants. The role is onsite, union‑represented, and requires a passion for employee relations and a strong background in HR.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain effective relationships with employees and leaders, providing advice and counsel on employee‑ and organization‑related matters.
- Partner with leaders to implement and promote HR programs that support business goals.
- Implement strategic short‑ and long‑term HR initiatives, quantifying results via metrics.
- Address HR‑related inquiries from all levels of employees.
- Support recruiting and retention strategy, including managing the recruiting and onboarding process for hourly associates.
- Assist with administration of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), including investigations, inquiries, and disciplinary actions.
- Leverage process‑improvement tools to align HR processes with business needs and identify automation opportunities.
- Conduct internal investigations with professionalism and integrity, recommending appropriate actions.
- Manage the FAA Drug & Alcohol Program for hourly and salaried employees.
- Drive HR compliance and ensure consistent application of HR and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental regulations, EH&S policies, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with site‑wide employee engagement initiatives.
- Lead and support special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of HR experience, including union experience; OR advanced degree and 3+ years of HR experience, including union experience.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Degree or advanced degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities while maintaining positive relationships.
- Professional maturity and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Solid background in employee relations, preferably in manufacturing.
- Commitment to a positive workplace culture and ethical decision making.
- Ability to influence without direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Fluency in Workday and Excel.
Competitive salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD. Incentive compensation and union coverage may apply.
