SUMMARY OF POSITIONIT Programmer is responsible for developing custom code to translate data from external and internal sources into Dean Transportation systems and back to customers. Additionally maintain ERP systems and data structures to ensure system functionality and data integrity, providing data in various ways to drive business process and decision making.
This position is designated as in-person and mandates daily on-site attendance at the Lansing, MI IT department. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in accordance with standard business operations

- Demonstrate an excellent attendance record
- High School Diploma required, college degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience as Software Engineer or System Administration or similar position preferred.
- Knowledge of project management and software development methodologies
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Facilitate project meetings and handle project conflicts within and outside of the team.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Work independently and efficiently.
- A meticulous approach to coding and testing to ensure software reliability and performance.
- Establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

- Gathering required information from various resources (internal & external)
- Gathering requirements from stakeholders (internal & external) – User stories
- Code development using clean code in languages as required by the project – Examples: SQL, Java, C#.
- Knowledge of data transfer, API’s and related technologies
- Help identify resources needed and work with Project Analyst to gather required tasks and resources
- Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
- Ensure projects meet stakeholder objectives
- Provide technical assistance to Dean staff and seek resolution as necessary
- Diagnose and resolve software issues, in particular data transfers and scheduled jobs
- Ensure security measures are followed to protect the integrity of data and systems.
- Maintain clear documentation of code, processes, and system configurations to facilitate future maintenance and updates.
- Conduct thorough testing of applications to identify and fix bugs, ensuring high-quality software delivery.
- Modify existing software to improve performance or adapt to new requirements.
