The Education Manager plays a central role in the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of NASW-Michigan’s educational programming and continuing education offerings. This position works closely with the Executive Director and staff team to ensure high-quality, accessible, and responsive professional development opportunities for social workers across Michigan. The Education Manager also serves as a key point of contact for members, presenters, and partners related to educational programming.

This is a full-time role with flexible scheduling needs, including occasional evenings and weekends. While primarily remote, the position requires in-person attendance in Lansing 1–2 times per month for meetings, along with other travel throughout the state as needed.

Key

Roles and Responsibilities General Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to ensure the effective daily operations of NASW-Michigan’s education and training initiatives
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to support organizational and program goals
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in chapter-wide initiatives and special projects, as assigned
  • Coordinate meetings, virtual conferences, and calls; assist with scheduling and travel arrangements as needed
  • Work independently and collaboratively with staff and designated teams on special projects
    • This position does require supervision skills as the Education Manager supervises interns.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with members, presenters, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Communicate regularly with social workers, students, allied professionals, and other constituents, serving as a knowledgeable representative of NASW-Michigan and clearly articulating member benefits, services, and opportunities
  • Participate in professional development activities, as assigned
  • Be available for occasional evening and weekend commitments related to events or programming
  • Make support the education programming for the NASW-Alaska Chapter or International District as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Education and Events Coordination
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage NASW-Michigan’s in-person and virtual educational offerings, including workshops, webinars, listening sessions, town halls, and conferences
  • Support the marketing and promotion of educational programs in collaboration with staff and vendors
  • Oversee event logistics, including:
    • Preparing agendas and coordinating with presenters
    • Completing continuing education approval and documentation
      Managing virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Go To Webinar ), including test runs and live event support
    • Coordinating space, supplies, and contracts in partnership with other staff or volunteers
  • Manage post-event follow-up, including development, distribution, and analysis of evaluations and completion of continuing education materials
  • Oversee the Chapter’s on-demand continuing education offerings and coordinate with the national NASW team as needed
  • Prepare and deliver reports to Chapter leadership to assess participation, outcomes, and overall effectiveness of educational programming and to identify emerging needs
