Provides day-to-day supervision of hourly employees and leads safety, quality, environmental, and operational performance in a mining/stone processing environment.
Responsibilities- Execute work plans and daily activities.
- Identify and initiate actions to prevent nonconformities relating to product or process.
- Oversee the loading of raw materials into the operation as well as shipments and distribution of finished goods and materials.
- Ensure appropriate records and data are input into SAP as required.
- Product inventory and quality management with a goal of minimizing negative impacts to end users.
- Provide leadership to ensure all safety rules and agency regulations are observed by all employees, including planning manpower and budgeting to achieve site safety goals.
- Interface with regulatory agencies as required.
- Communicate site operating targets and results and solicit feedback on causes for gaps relative to sales, production, training and maintenance targets.
- Manage employee, environmental and public relations concerns as assigned.
- Support regulatory compliance with environmental regulations for the sites.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of hourly employees ensuring effective job performance and task completion.
- Participate in required meetings, investigations, and other activities associated with site leadership as appropriate.
- Ensure task training is completed per MSHA Part 46 guidelines.
- Supervise and ensure conformance to the company safety and environmental programs.
- Actively assess the work environment to remove potential safety and environmental risks.
- Comply with Carmeuse policies (as applicable) and ensure supervisory actions do not violate them.
- Associate degree or related experience.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with focus on quality, safety, environmental matters, process and people; highly preferred in mining, stone/sand processing, cement plants, civil construction, etc.
- Strong material management skills; results driven and a self-starter.
- Positive and proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutions; ability to follow directions.
- Detail- and process-oriented with strong problem-resolution abilities.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong time management skills.
- Technical knowledge of mining processes.
- Strong analytical thinking skills to provide in-depth problem analysis.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Extensive knowledge of continuous manufacturing and production processes, with exposure to continuous improvement concepts.
- Ability to assess organizational and people issues, provide coaching and mentoring, and deliver solutions to improve facility performance.
- Conflict management and negotiation skills to achieve win/win outcomes.
- Ability to build productive relationships across the organization and respect diverse viewpoints.
- Excellent technical writing skills for SOPs, reports, and communications.
- Ability to manage maintenance projects using project management methodologies.
- Quality management skills to ensure procedures and work activities meet specifications and standards.
- Ability to work autonomously with a results-oriented mindset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Proficiency with computer tools including Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience dealing with regulatory agencies.
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to fast-paced environments.
