Position Summary
This role removes excess metal and surface defects from parts by performing the following duties. The role must be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.
Responsibilities- Selects abrasive belts or wheels according to the production floor traveler or work instruction grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of metal to be removed.
- Attaches wheel or belt to drive mechanism.
- Starts equipment polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive wheel or abrasive belt to remove metal and surface defects.
- Examines part for acceptability of finish by fit to overlay or required inspection equipment.
- Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area.
- Basic knowledge of running a CNC equipment preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized form.
- Use of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.
- Use of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, and comparators.
- Additional duties as requested by management.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Basic understanding of a computer.
- Excellent hand/eye, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
