Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with Level I trauma background and a current MI RN license for a night shift position.
Responsibilities- Work in a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department with adult and pediatric patients
- Patient ratios typically 1:5-6, may increase to 1:8 during peak times and holidays
- Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Required to work 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week schedule
- Floating to pediatric emergency unit may be required
- Uses EPIC EMR system; experience preferred but training provided in orientation
- No on-call required
- Duties include rapid assessment, triage, and emergency care for a diverse and high-acuity patient population
- This department is a Stroke and Heart Center as well as a Pediatric Emergency Center
- Expectation to acknowledge and safely manage high patient ratios
- Modules must be completed prior to start date
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Maximum of 5 days RTO per assignment, must be submitted at time of application; blocked RTO period from 3/27 to 4/12
- Returning staff must have a 12-month break in service before becoming eligible
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- Active MI RN license required by start date (Compact licenses not accepted)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
- ENPC certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience in a Level I Trauma Center
- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with continuous IV and procedural sedation preferred
- Triage experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to provide proof of high school education
