Provides clinical expertise to Trauma Services to maintain highest quality care, and ensure compliance with evidenced based practices. Participates with the team in all PIPS projects and daily care of trauma patients.
Essential DutiesThis job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Manages the daily clinical improvement activities of the trauma service for all inpatients and emergency department patients.
- Ensures adequate loop closure of all clinical improvement activites through the PIPS process, including education, peer review, and mentoring.
- Participates actively in both the MTQIP and TQIP initiatives to monitor our benchmarking, and ensure compliance with evidence based practices.
- Collaborates with other caregivers, physicians, and residents to implement clinical improvement best practices.
- Collaborates with hospitals within Region 1 to develop their clinical improvement programs.
- Maintains knowledge of NTRACS and TQIP data definitions, and serves as consultant to team members.
- Analyzes data trends to identify areas of concern, areas of patient risk, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborates with the TMD, TPM, and CNS to develop plans to address any clinical issues.
- Prepares reports for PIPS meetings and CPRQ.
- General Requirements
- State of Michigan Nursing license. Work Experience
- Clinical experience in critical care minimum 2 years.
- Preferred
- Previous NTRACS or database experience. - Preferred
- Previous experience with SPSS or other research software. - Preferred
- Previous experience in clinical improvement role. Education - BSN
- Preferred - MSN Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Strong team skills and ability to interact positively with professional staff mandatory.
- Strong word processing and data skills required. Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
