Senior Quality Technician
Air Lift, a third‑generation family‑owned company founded in 1949 in Lansing, Michigan, supplies the automotive aftermarket with load‑assist products and performance suspensions for show and track. Responsibilities- Perform advanced dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of components, assemblies, and finished goods using appropriate measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, CMMs).
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
- Lead first‑article inspections (FAI), in‑process, and final inspections; prepare related documentation such as ISIRs, PPAPs, and control plans.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities (RCA, 5‑Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
- Review and update quality documents such as inspection procedures, work instructions, and checklists.
- Interface with cross‑functional teams including production, product management (APQP), engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues.
- Train and mentor junior quality staff and inspectors.
- Assist in audits (internal, supplier, customer, or third‑party) and maintain traceability of quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 and/or other relevant processes.
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics; escale non‑conformances and assist in disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Operate and program automated inspection equipment where applicable (e.g., CMM, vision systems).
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Experience with PPAP, SPC, FMEA, and other quality tools.
- Familiarity with the principles of metrology and gage calibration.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
