Job Title: Body Technician Apprentice

Shaheen Chevrolet is looking for a Body Shop Technician Apprentice to join our growing team. Responsibilities
  • Repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards
  • Repair vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards
  • Check parts against estimate and ensure proper parts are ordered and received
  • Prepare vehicles for body repair work
  • Notify management of any additional repairs needed
  • Notify management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or alter promised time
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper state of repair
  • Maintain and wear all required safety and health PPE, including respirator, as recommended
  • Comply with laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and hazardous materials; report deviations
  • Cooperate with other personnel in repair and prepping of vehicles
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting body shop operations (hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.)
  • Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner
Qualifications
  • Education and/or

    Experience:

    Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: I-CAR Certificate of Advanced Training;
    Advanced Vehicle Systems;
    Aluminum Repair, Replacement and Welding;
    Collision Repair 2000;
    Electronics for Collision Repair;
    Understanding Collision Repair;
    Workplace Hazardous Materials;
    State of Michigan collision repair license;
    Valid Driver's License
