Traveling Splicer II Fiber - Ervin Cable Construction LLC

Position includes travel to Dayton, OH;
Lansing, MI;
Bowling Green, KY; and Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities
  • Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post‑installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new fiber sheaths
  • Mid‑sheath fibers for entry on loose tube or fiber sheaths
  • Cut away the sheath from existing cables to reach faulty connections, and remove the sheath and insulation from newly installed cables and wires
  • Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and maintaining accurate material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver’s license (non‑provisional) with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • At least two years of fiber splicing experience
Additional Qualifications
  • Certified pole climber or ability to demonstrate proficiency (preferred)
  • Knowledge of telecommunications network structure
Travel

This is a traveling position; employees may be required to travel to the following locations:
Dayton, OH;
Lansing, MI;
Bowling Green, KY; and Nashville, TN.

Physical Abilities & Exposure
  • Routinely work at heights, enter attics and crawl spaces, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, perform fine hand motions, lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Occasionally work in confined spaces, use ladders and gaffs for climbing poles.
