Position Overview

Safely and reliably transport and assist passengers to and from locations, educational or sporting events, community-based programs, and other special activities.

MOTOR COACH DRIVERS
  • Starting at $18.35 per hour

Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle as required.
  • Use established routes and designated stops.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required.
  • Instruct passenger riders regarding safety.
  • Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
  • Drive with passenger safety as the first priority.
  • Establish favorable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, passengers, clients, and other involved persons.
  • Attend training sessions, annual in-service, and workshops conducted by Dean Trailways and/or other approved agencies to achieve self-improvement.
Requirements Specific Abilities
  • Operate all vehicle types used by Dean Trailways.
  • Identify with geographic service area and routes.
  • Know rules and regulations by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Handle exuberant rider behavior effectively.
  • Administer disciplinary procedures per company policies.
  • Exercise good judgment concerning emergencies and daily operations.
  • Conduct evacuation drills as required.
  • Keep accurate records and reports, submit them legibly and on time.
  • Operate all vehicle lifts as prescribed.
  • Secure all required equipment for passengers.
  • Lift, store, and disassemble/assemble wheelchairs up to 40 pounds.
  • Lift and store luggage and devices up to 70 pounds.
Body Mechanics

Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pulling, bending, and carrying heavy objects, including opening vehicle hoods, operating doors, loading wheelchairs, assisting passengers, and handling luggage.
