Direct Support Professional; DSP​/1st Shift - Garden Cove

Description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides medically necessary, appropriate personal care and community living supports to persons with intellectual developmental disabilities, severe mental illness, and/or co‑occurring diagnoses. The DSP may assist in areas of mobility, activities of daily living, communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational, leisure time management, and community participation.

  Monitor and ensure safety 24/7; perform checks, support crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution.
• Relationships
  :
  Establish collaborative, trust‑based relationships with individuals served, the community, and other professionals.
• Activities & Daily Living Skills
  :
  Help build problem‑solving, communication, and independence skills; assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, and cooking.
• Health
  :
  Monitor vitals, promote positive behavior, attend medical appointments, and support implementation of care plans.

  :
  Connect individuals to community opportunities and encourage participation in volunteering, employment, and education.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid (or ability to obtain).
• Basic computer skills.
• Dedication to assigned duties and performance expectations.
• Commitment to scheduled shifts (7 a.m.–3 p.m. first shift).
