The Shipping & Receiving Clerk coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. The following duties are performed:

• Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, production orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
• Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
• Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
• Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
• Resolves receiving discrepancies from suppliers.
• Coordinates all outgoing shipments with respective dock times.
• Schedules pick‑up times with customer logistics department.
• Posts weight and shipping charges.
• Coordinates material flow for commercial customers with scheduled dock times.
• Prepares bills of lading.
• Maintains time records.
• Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
• Adjusts errors and complaints.
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to produce accurate work meeting company standards, requiring little or no rework.
• Searches out new tasks and expands ability to perform assigned tasks without direct supervision.
• Punctuality and attendance.
• Willingness and cooperativeness with co‑workers and supervisors; ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO
  14001 environmental standards.
• Adherence to safety procedures, security protocol, and proper PPE usage.

Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus five to seven years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

• Five to seven years related experience and/or training.
• At least 3 months experience operating a forklift.

Background Prerequisites

• Must undergo background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO
  14001.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Employee may stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and reach with arms.
• Employee may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
