Rehab Tech - Outpatient Rehab - Laplace

This position is supervised directly by a licensed physical or occupational therapist and follows detailed instructions, competency completion, policies and procedures. The Rehab Technician provides therapeutic modality treatments as assigned, prepares therapy areas and patients for treatment, and transports patients using wheelchairs and stretchers. The Technician maintains equipment and environment to ensure cleanliness, operability, and safety. Infection control isolation techniques are performed as outlined in policy.

• Prepare and maintain work area for treatment, including ordering supplies and medications.
• Orients and mentors new staff in the area assigned.
• Monitors and assists in patient care as directed by the therapist.
• Assist with general office and front‑desk procedures.
• Transport patients to and from the department or room via wheelchair or stretcher.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication needs.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred:
  Coursework in Healthcare Sciences.

• Required:
  
  Five years relevant experience, or pursuit of PT/OT or PTA/COTA program may be substituted.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of job information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications, keyboard, and relevant software.
• Effective verbal and written communication and ability to present information clearly to various stakeholders.

• Heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Must stoop, bend, reach, squat, crawl, and grab with manual dexterity.
• Must travel throughout and between facilities.
• Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue; risk of communicable disease.
