Chief Meteorologist – KGNS

Job Summary

KGNS+ is looking for a full‑time Chief Meteorologist to lead our weather team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in meteorology, broadcasting, and team leadership, and will be able to prepare and deliver accurate weather forecasts, create engaging content across newscasts and digital platforms, and serve as a community outreach ambassador through classroom visits, live reporting, and public events.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts.
  • Prepare graphics to support weather presentations.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule for severe weather scenarios.
  • Lead and mentor a team of meteorologists, guiding them on presentation style and forecast accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with news management on content strategy.
  • Create and post content for digital platforms and the CTV Desk.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree in meteorology.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a broadcast meteorologist.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Experience leading an on‑air weather team.
  • Creative skills in graphic design and presentation.
  • Proven ability to forecast weather accurately.
  • Proficiency with digital and social media platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Storm‑tracking experience is a plus.
