NEWS ANCHOR/MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST – KGNS

Job Summary

KGNS+ is looking for a dynamic Anchor/Multimedia Journalist to join our newsroom. The successful candidate will anchor regular newscasts, research, write, report, shoot video, and edit news material for television and digital platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Anchor assigned newscast (broadcast & digital)
  • Gather and report general assignment lead stories in multiple newscasts
  • Shoot, write, edit and post stories, pictures, and videos for all platforms
  • Connect with the audience
  • Conduct research and critical thinking to dig deeper into news tips
  • Develop community sources for unique insight and reporting
  • Appear on air and coordinate live shots
  • Work well under pressure in deadline‑driven situations
  • Work with a sense of immediacy, sound judgment and ethics

    Carry and maintain MMJ equipment (≈15–20 lbs)
Qualifications
  • College degree in journalism or related field (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable status
  • Initiative and attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication and grammar skills
  • Ability to work under intensive pressure and tight deadlines
  • Positive work attitude and teamwork
  • Awareness of national and local news/weather
  • Ability to pursue local hard‑news stories
  • Computer proficiency – newsroom software, Microsoft apps, Internet use
  • Produce newscasts including writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors and staff
  • Video and audio editing skills
  • Carry camera equipment (≈15–20 lbs)
