Application Pool Notice

Laredo College continuously accepts applications for part-time (adjunct) instructors to create a pool of candidates for each session/semester. Applications will be reviewed and positions will be filled based on department needs. Applications received for this pool will remain active for one year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Legal Administrative Professional Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and ensuring effective teaching and learning in the Accredited Legal Professional program through the Continuing Education Department. This role involves developing and adapting course curricula to align with industry standards, preparing comprehensive lesson plans and course materials, and maintaining accurate records, including attendance and grading. The instructor must create an engaging learning environment, fostering student participation and motivation through interactive teaching methods and real‑world applications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop course/program curriculum to address the particular area of instruction via face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid.
  • Provide instruction in the content area of Accredited Legal Professional program.
  • Prepare tailored course documentation such as lesson plan, courses syllabi, assignments, quizzes/exams.
  • Follow daily lesson plans to ensure quality, consistency, and uniformity of instruction and student conduct.
  • Adapt to different teaching styles to accommodate to the population and teaching modes.
  • Keep accurate attendance records and submit required continuing education class documents in a timely manner.
  • Provide students with information about the goals and requirements of the course, the nature of the course content and the methods of evaluation to be employed including required classroom behavior.
  • Measure each student’s progress through the use of written exams or performance assessments essential to mastery of unit objectives. Must proctor exam and retakes, as needed.
  • Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care, and appearance of assigned equipment, classroom/lab, and all other teaching materials.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality by following FERPA standards.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evening or weekends depending on class demand.
  • Participate in training activities as needed by the department.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Director, Dean, Associate Provost/Strategic & Collaborative Partnerships, Provost/Vice-President of Academic Affairs, or President.

Required
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three years of professional experience as a Legal Administrative and/or Paralegal in the state of Texas.
  • Texas Driver's License.
Preferred
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree.
  • One year teaching or training experience.
  • Relevant current industry certifications (e.g., Certified Paralegal, Accredited Legal Professional) and/or willingness to obtain and maintain relevant industry certification.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of Legal studies appropriate for the course.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, documentation and administrative processes.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, competency‑based instruction in face‑to‑face, hybrid, or virtual formats.
  • Skilled in using instructional technologies such as Zoom, CANVAS, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to evaluate student learning fairly and ethically.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and comply with institutional reporting procedures.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to student success.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
