Position: Field Engineer I - Battery Energy Storage Systems

Job Overview

Primoris Renewable Energy is currently seeking Field Engineers to join our team for both immediate and 2025 starts. This site-based role will administer daily operations of project sites under the supervision of Trade Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Site Manager. The Field Engineer ensures and maintains cost, safety, schedule, and quality of the project, providing input and technical expertise for power generating construction projects.

Responsibilities include engineering review, procurement support (if necessary), construction, and startup of high- or medium‑voltage electrical systems. The role also involves installation guidance, QA/QC enforcement, scheduling support, and owner correspondence. The Field Engineer will review and submit final owner package submittals, including As‑builts, Job Book, and project system packages.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Complete daily production and cost monitoring for major work items, accurately preparing, reviewing, and analyzing daily cost reports for supervisory comparison and planning.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers, maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Understand owner, purchase, and subcontract documents to determine billing inclusions/exclusions and invoice timing, reconciling accurate quantities.
  • Manage project equipment and material transactions, monitoring inventory of equipment and materials.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by complying with company safety policies and federal and state safety regulations, serving as on‑site Safety Representative when required.
  • Familiarize with project design documents, specifications, and Quality Plan; administer and manage project quality, prepare Job Book documentation, and coordinate quality inspections and benchmarking.
  • Participate in meetings, taking notes and generating monthly Manager Meeting documents, project indicators, and daily Plan of the Day.
  • Coordinate with Site Manager and Project Engineer to apply for and complete local permits, acquire One‑Call tickets, and maintain the One‑Call log.
  • Verify accuracy of all Foreman and Subcontractor daily reports, including work codes, labor hours, equipment hours, and production reporting.
  • Analyze and interpret field information, initiating RFIs for construction questions or issues, following the written RFI process.
  • Review and research products or materials, initiating submittals using the written submittal process and notifying the Project Engineer for review and processing.
  • Assist in document control, performing audits on field drawings to confirm the latest revisions are used.
  • Assist Trade Superintendents in work plan preparation by doing takeoffs, preparing Material Request Forms, and coordinating pre‑construction checks.
  • Monitor purchased consumables on site or in the warehouse, ensuring they are approved per the submittal process.
  • Assist Trade Superintendent with establishing and maintaining crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Four‑year degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent education and experience. Some construction experience is preferred.
  • Accounting (math and record‑keeping) proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Visio, Primavera).
  • Effective oral, written, presentation, and listening communication skills.
  • Effective motivational and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.
  • Field Engineer / Field Construction Coordinator expected to relocate to the project site for the duration of each construction project (average 6–18 months).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
Environmental Focus
  • Responsible for environmental compliance, ensuring all environmental procedures are met on the project.
  • Train and develop field representatives in environmental stewardship for the site/state‑specific project.
