Position: RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST

Radiologic Technician must be able to capture images, obtaining the best quality image, and ensuring the patients are comfort and safe. The Radiology Technologist must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure that they are comfortable and at ease during the procedure; however, it is very important that they do what is necessary to obtain a high quality image that will be sufficient for thorough examination by the medical provider and allow for correct diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works.
  • Positioning patients properly to obtain x-rays
  • Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.
  • Taking preventative steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
  • Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process in order to help the physician diagnose problems.
  • Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
  • Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped.
  • Ensure radiology orders are performed in a timely manner and that reporting is delivered within time limits and is of good quality
  • Work alternate hours: morning, evening, weekends shifts, or on-call hours
  • Act as a backup for the registration and clinical staff when there is a staffing shortage or high patient demand
  • Follow compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedure, and protocols
  • Follow clinics X-Ray regulations

Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of a two-year program in Radiologic studies
  • Current Licensure as a Limited Medical Radiological through the Texas Medical Board
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Technologist through the Texas Medical Board
  • Radiology Technician must be in good standing with American Registry of Radiology Technologist
  • Current compliance with continuing medical education
  • Current BLS
  • 2 years related work experience required
  • Problem solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and multitasking abilities a must
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications
  • May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Expectations

Attendance and punctuality is necessary. Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to problem solve and be self-motivated. Must have a commitment to excellence and high standards. Must have excellent written and oral skills, strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Must have ability to multitask, manage priorities and workflow. Required to have versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and have acute attention to detail.

Able to operate computer software with training. Expected to have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions. Able to work independently with little or no supervision. Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with external customers.
