Aequor is now hiring a full-time Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) for the school year! Interpretation Services:
Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing during regular school hours. This includes interpreting classroom instruction, discussions, and other educational activities.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure that the student’s preferred mode of communication (as designated in their IEP) is effectively supported.
Attend IEP meetings and contribute as a professional consultant regarding the student’s sign language needs.
CollaborationFoster collaboration between parents, teachers, and the school regarding services related to sign language interpretation.
Additional ActivitiesInterpreting services for school activities that occur beyond regular school hours may be accepted at the interpreter’s discretion, with district pre‑approval for additional compensation.
Qualifications- ASL Fluency:
Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential. - Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Understanding of Deaf Culture:
Familiarity with Deaf culture and sensitivity to the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
