Position Summary
IES Residential is seeking skilled and experienced Residential Service Electricians to join our growing Service Organization in the Laredo, TX area. This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments — including both new builds and lived-in homes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NEC codes, prioritizes safety, and excels in customer service.
As the face of our service division, this technician will represent IES Residential with professionalism and a commitment to excellence.
- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.
- Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived-in homes.
- Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.
- Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.

Minimum Years of Experience2-4
Qualifications- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Service Electrician.
- Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.
- Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.
- Recognized for high-quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.
- Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
- Experience using field service management apps or reporting software.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both new builds and occupied homes; must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor in customer-facing environments.
- Must be comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and tight areas within existing structures.
- Requires frequent driving between job sites and homeowner residences.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work with hand and power tools.
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and climb ladders as part of routine troubleshooting and repairs.
- May be exposed to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and outdoor weather during inspections or exterior work.
- Requires use of company vehicle and strict adherence to driving and safety policies.
