Perform professional supervisory and technical work coordinating quality assurance review (QAR) process for all functions of Safety and Emergency Services; serves as program manager coordinating, developing QA/QI programs, and monitoring effectiveness within the specific area of concentration; develops programs in line with approved levels of service, creates training plans, evaluates industry best management practices, and applies them to the work units, seeking opportunities for improving performance metrics, along with evaluating programs;
interacts with leadership across all work units and supervises staff; reports to Department of Safety and Emergency Services Director or designee.
Must pass a Level 2 CJIS background check.
This Quality Assurance Program Coordinator position is located at: 10750 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33778
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
- Coordinate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) department wide, establishing automatic triggers for certain activities.
- Maintain direct oversight of the Quality Assurance Review (QAR) process as it relates to EMS/Fire Administration, Regional 911, Billing & Financial Services and Support Services divisions of the Department of Safety and Emergency Services.
- Prepare and make written and oral presentations regarding programs to leadership and employee groups.
- Review department policies regularly and provides consistent standards.
- Meet regularly with division QA Associates and sets standards for timely review of incidents and system reviews with the goal of improving performance.
- Gather QA data from all divisions for monthly reporting to include performance measures and analysis and recommendations.
- Provide supervision to subordinate employees and tracks the training and certification of all SES employees.
- Mentor personnel, contractors, stakeholders and the public with regard to QA/QI best practices.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Experience: First responder EMS system, or health care system experience.
Degree: Business, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field.
- At least 8 years of experience as described above; or
- Associate degree and at least 6 years of experience as described above; or
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience as described above; or
- Master’s degree and at least 2 years of experience as described above; or
- PhD degree and some experience as described above.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- First Responder EMS system experience.
- Health Care system experience.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of team management.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of public works operations and maintenance including the use of work management systems and inventories.
- Knowledge of operations equipment and associated use.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques relevant to area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of best management practices related to infrastructure asset management.
- Knowledge of budget planning and accounting methods.
- Skill in reviewing staff performance and ensuring compliance with approved targets.
- Skill in performance management and analysis.
- Skill in public speaking and public relations and ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a variety of audiences.
- Skill in budget planning and management methods.
- Ability to apply computer applications and software.
- Ability to actively manage day-to-day operations, programs, and communications with public and private organizations.
- Ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work and activities of professional and support personnel and establish and maintain effective working relationships with County, state, and federal officials, contractors, staff, volunteers, and the general public.
