By 9 a.m. you've coaxed a trembling Lab onto the scale with a lick mat and a low voice, drawn his blood while he's still working on the peanut butter, and walked his owner through what comes next. Nobody got rushed, and nobody got forced. That's a normal morning at Island Hammock Pet Hospital in Key Largo, where Fear Free handling is how we practice, not a poster in the lobby.

We're hiring a Veterinary Technician to join our team and bring that same steady care to every patient and client we see.

We've cared for pets across Key Largo and the Florida Keys since 2010. We're AAHA accredited and Fear Free Certified, and we offer wellness exams, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, an in-house laboratory, and radiology, with the kind of thorough, thoughtful care we'd want for our own pets. We show up for each other, celebrate the wins (big and small), and support one another through the tough moments.

• Patients who stay calm and trusting through exams, surgery prep, and recovery
• Accurate records and lab results that give our DVMs what they need to make confident calls
• Post-op patients watched closely, with any change caught and reported early
• Clients who leave understanding their pet's medications, treatments, and home care
• A hospital day that stays on track because every exam room and treatment area is ready when we need it

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary setting as aVeterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant
• Comfortable assisting with exams, procedures, and daily patient care
• Availability for 10-hour day shifts, including rotating weekends

• A calm, steady presence with animals and the people who love them
• Clear, kind communication with clients and teammates
• Organized, and able to roll with the flow when the schedule fills up
• Eager to learn, grow, and try new things
• A willingness to jump in wherever we need you, because teamwork is our culture

• Full-time, Day shift
• 10-hour shifts
• Rotating weekends
• No holiday shifts required

Compensation for this role starts from $17.00 per hour, based on experience and role alignment.
