Mgr, Bakery
Job SummaryManages the daily operations of the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs, mindful of merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Supervises, trains, and develops team members on performance of their job and provides coaching as needed.

- SERVICE (approximately 40% of time):
Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated to build and retain customer confidence and loyalty. Ensure the department is merchandised per plan. Deliver daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for at-shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Train department associates on freshness, inventory levels, stocking and ordering and shelf conditioning. Offer customers assistance in finding or suggesting product.
Fulfill customer requests and special orders. - LEADERSHIP (approximately 19% of time):
Promote trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job-specific information. Establish goals for merchandising, sales and profits and empower the team to meet or exceed the goals. Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume; adhere to all laws and company guidelines. - FINANCIAL (approximately 20% of time):
Complete daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, etc.). Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and report discrepancies. Review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action. Plan, organize and perform inventory. Use production planning tools to accurately produce fresh products and ensure discard/markdown processes reduce shrink. Ensure product is held at proper temperatures per food safety guidelines and retain temperature logs per policy. - COMPLIANCE/SAFETY (approximately 20% of time):
Ensure safety, proper food handling, sanitation and productivity standards. Adhere to regulatory requirements for food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA. Execute recalls and withdrawals promptly. Reinforce safety programs, report unsafe conditions, accidents, and risks. Ensure adherence to wage and hour policies. Foster a culture of safety and ensure proper PPE usage and safe operation of equipment. Report safety hazards and assist with remediation as needed.
- Education:
High School / GED - Experience:
Supervisory experience; 3 - 6 years preferred; 1 - 5 years minimum - Language:
English (English & Spanish preferred) - Certifications/Knowledge:
Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days; knowledge of basic math; strong customer service skills; exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills; ability to operate bakery equipment (slicer, oven, scale, knives, etc.); ability to perform basic cake decorating and baking; proficient with computer applications used in the department. - Age/Work Authorization:
Must be 18 years of age; authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain; successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.

Physical demands include standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, lifting up to the indicated weights, and possible exposure to various conditions (indoor/outdoor, cold, heat, wet/humid). - Equipment:
Bakery slicers, ovens, scales, knives, proofer, packaging, temperature controls, PPE as required.
