Renowned Recruitment Group is partnering with a large country club who is looking to bring on a full time Controller. The Controller serves as the senior financial leader responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, accounting operations, and strategic financial guidance. This role partners closely with the GM/COO, Finance Committee, and Board of Governors to ensure financial integrity, operational excellence, and long-term organizational sustainability.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on, analytical, process‑oriented, and skilled at leading an accounting team within a fast‑paced, member‑focused environment.
This is an onsite position working a schedule from Tuesday-Saturday.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy- Lead development of the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, year‑end reporting, and financial packages for leadership and the Board.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis, financial modeling, and cash forecasting to support data‑driven decision‑making.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the GM/COO, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Governors.
- Oversee all accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, including AP, AR, GL, payroll, banking, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate recording of all club transactions, including credit card activity, loan payments, lease expenses, amortization schedules, and membership‑related financial entries.
- Manage monthly close processes for both the Club and its Association.
- Maintain accurate historical financial records and reconcile legacy data as needed.
- Monitor capital expenditure budgets, disbursements, and monthly reporting.
- Conduct cost analysis and forecast projections for construction and capital initiatives.
- Provide oversight for project accounting and tracking of overages or variances.
- Evaluate current processes and implement systemic improvements across financial operations.
- Fully understand and utilize the Club Essential system within the first 90 days.
- Recommend and implement approved workflow enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
- Hire, train, mentor, and retain a high‑performing accounting team.
- Establish clear goals and expectations; coach team members and take corrective action when needed.
- Partner with department leaders to develop operational metrics and improve budget ownership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance, with experience managing small teams.
- CPA and/or CHAE designation preferred.
- Experience in non‑profit, club, or hospitality accounting preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a track record of improving financial processes and controls.
- Ability to reconcile legacy financial records and ensure accuracy across historical data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- High integrity, professionalism, and discretion with confidential information.
