Description
We are hiring for our client who is seeking a Power Station Operations Graduate to join their Operations teams across Kilroot and Ballylumford Power Stations .
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering graduate to begin a long-term career within the power generation industry. The successful Power Station Operations Graduate will join a structured 2-3 year development programme combining hands-on operational experience with formal training, mentoring and technical development.
Working alongside experienced Engineers, Operations Technicians and Maintenance teams, you will gain exposure to gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, electrical systems and associated power station equipment, while progressing towards operational authorisations including Authorised Person and potentially Senior Authorised Person status.

As a Power Station Operations Graduate , you will:
Develop a strong understanding of power station operations and electricity generation
Support the safe operation of generating plant during start-up, load changes and shutdowns
Gain experience within control room and plant-based operations
Monitor plant performance and analyse operational data
Carry out routine plant inspections and equipment condition assessments
Support fault-finding and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical and process systems
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams
Participate in outages, maintenance planning and engineering improvement projects
Support the preparation of operating procedures, risk assessments and technical documentation
Develop towards Low Voltage and Mechanical Authorised Person status
Contribute to safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement
Following an initial training period of approximately six months on day shift, the role will move to a rotating 12-hour shift pattern covering days and nights .
The PersonWe are looking for graduates who have:
A minimum 2:1 BEng Degree , or are expecting to graduate with a 2:1, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline
A genuine interest in power generation, energy systems and industrial operations
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Good communication and teamwork skills
A proactive approach to learning and technical development
A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
The willingness to work a rotating shift pattern following the initial training period
Previous industrial placement or internship experience would be beneficial but is not essential .
No previous power generation experience is required, with comprehensive training and mentoring provided.
