Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Northern Trust. As a Registered Nurse, you’ll be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing holistic, person‑centred end‑of‑life care. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate high‑quality nursing care for people living with a terminal illness and support their families and carers.
The role involves clinical leadership and direct patient care, ensuring dignity, respect, and compassion are at the heart of everything you do. You will work collaboratively with other providers and across the system to improve the experience of dying, death, and bereavement.
You’ll be accountable to the Hospice Ward Manager, Community Clinical Nurse Manager, or Registered Manager (depending on location/service) and professionally accountable to the Head of Quality and Clinical Practice, Head of Operations and Quality or Head of Nursing and Quality.
Contract and LocationContract: Permanent – 16 hours per week, night shifts between 11 pm and 7 am
Location: Community based – Northern Trust
SalaryMarie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 5 (aligned with AFC) £31,049 – £37,796 (pro rata) per annum plus enhancements

- Enhancements: 30 % of basic salary per hour paid for Saturdays and weekday night duty (8 pm to 6 am); 60 % of basic salary per hour paid for Sundays and public bank holidays

- Registered Nurse on the NMC register (Adult) and willingness to travel as required.

- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for people with terminal illnesses, supporting their families and carers.
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with diverse individuals, including those from minority and hard‑to‑reach groups.
- Commitment to quality improvement, evidence‑based practice, and ongoing professional development.
- Experience working independently in a healthcare environment, ideally with recent exposure to end‑of‑life care.
