We are looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor whose research specialty is in spacecraft GNC, space trajectory optimization, autonomous space systems, and space robotics and in‑orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing. The successful candidate will teach a variety of aerospace engineering courses, including but not limited to orbital mechanics, aerospace systems engineering, spacecraft dynamics and controls, statistical orbit determination, nonlinear optimal control, and policing at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Teaching in other areas that enhance current departmental strengths is welcomed.
- Develop an internationally‑renowned, externally and competitively funded independent research program.
- Teach a total of 9 undergraduate/graduate credit hours per semester, including existing curriculum and new courses in the applicant’s specialty area.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in shared governance and university service activities.
- Conduct scholarship/research and contribute to department mission in teaching, research, and service.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong research vision with potential to secure competitive funding at the state and federal level.
- Successful track record of scholarly publications in peer‑reviewed venues.
- Commitment to high‑quality undergraduate and graduate teaching.

- Ability to collaborate cross‑disciplinarily within and outside NMSU.
