- Student Success Coordinator II (Mentor Coordinator) NMSU invites applications for the position of Student Success Coordinator II (Mentor Coordinator). TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program dedicated to helping first-generation students and those with financial need or disabilities obtain a bachelor's degree through academic support and enrichment activities. Standard
Work Schedule:
Standard (M-F, 8-5)
- Plans, coordinates and implements a federally funded peer-mentoring component for 350 college students.
- Serves a caseload of 150 students as they navigate through college processes (Financial Aid, Scholarship, Academic environment).
- Administers, reviews, and analyzes the Noel Levitz College Student Inventory to assess participants' needs and college going attitudes and develops an Academic Service Plan.
- Responds to participants' concerns, challenges, complaints and grievances as directed.
- Makes referrals to campus and community resources.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation of program, and program participants' progress.
- Supervises TRIO Student Support Services Peer Mentor Component.
- Assigns and supervises Peer Mentor Caseloads.
- Recruits, Interviews, and Hires Peer Mentors.
- Plans and implements Peer Mentor trainings and evaluations.
- Conducts file audits and maintains student electronic and paper files.
- Completes timesheet documentation, catalogues weekly progress reports, and checks daily documentation of participant meetings with Peer Mentor. Reads and responds to participants' progress reports.
- Prepares semester and annual reports in evaluation of TRIO SSS Program and the Mentoring Component.
- Assists with the TRIO Student Support Services Annual Performance Report to the United States Department of Education.
Required
Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling and Educational Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related area.
Working Conditions and Physical EffortEnvironment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
