Emergency Dispatcher – NMSU Conference Services

• Salary: $17.85 per hour
• Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift / Public Safety – 24/7

• Answer 911 and non‑emergency calls and dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies primarily on NMSU campus.
• Coordinate emergency resources and services during regional critical incidents.
• Maintain sensitive data entry for the regional CAD, NCIC, and other databases.
• Monitor campus‑wide video cameras and alarm systems (security, fire, panic/duress).
• Operate the emergency notification system messaging (CLERY compliance).
• Coordinate messages for department personnel from community members and serve as the primary receptionist/face of the department for lobby visitors.

• Required
  
  Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED.
• Required Experience: None.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior dispatch experience.
• Special Certification: Emergency Dispatcher/Communications certification/academy within one year.

• Environment: Typical interior/office.
• Physical Effort: Light; no more than 2 hours per day. Handle average‑weight objects up to 10 lbs.
• Risk: Exposure to hazards; follow safety precautions.

Employment is Non‑Exempt; position is part of the AFSCME bargaining unit.
