Position: Certified Peer Support Worker - Veteran (76-70)

La Clinica de Familia (LCDF) is a FQHC located in Southern New Mexico, serving the community for over 40 years. Our mission is to empower families, individuals, and communities by providing quality medical, dental, behavioral health, and educational services for all cultures.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing peer support services to members with behavioral health issues, psychiatric disorders, drug and/or alcohol dependence, and physical illnesses. The peer worker will act as a consumer advocate, provide information and support for consumers, and assist consumers in their recovery process.

  • Peer workers help clients identify strengths, empower them to choose their own recovery paths, and recognize multiple pathways to recovery.
  • Peer recovery support services are person‑centered, personalized to goals and preferences.
  • Peer workers are partners or consultants without dictating services; participation is always voluntary.
  • The relationship between peer worker and client is respectful, trusting, empathetic, collaborative, and mutual.
  • Peer recovery support uses a strengths‑based framework emphasizing safety and empowerment.
  • Additional competencies include proficiency with Electronic Health Records, strong verbal and written communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural sensitivity, multi‑tasking under pressure, confidentiality and knowledge of policies.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified peer specialist in New Mexico.
  • Veteran status.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Background check, TB screen, and drug testing must be passed.
