Memorial Medical Center – Insurance Specialist

Location: Las Cruces, NM

Job Type: Full Time –
Reports to: Patient Access Supervisor

Essential Functions:

• Secure pre‑certification referrals for all outpatient scheduled procedures
• Verify payer eligibility and collect patient liability estimates
• Maintain current knowledge of outpatient imaging and payer policies
• Communicate with physicians and payer websites to resolve CPT code discrepancies
• Notify patient and physician offices when insurance information is invalid or terminated
• Work closely with hospital departments to forward clinical information and required documents

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent – required
• Two years of college or medical office specialist education – preferred

Skills & Experience:

• One year experience obtaining and verifying pre‑certifications with multiple insurance companies – required
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to function in a stressful, multi‑task environment
• Knowledge of managed care and third‑party payors
