Description

Performs E&M and CPT coding and billing audits and other projects related to physician/professional codingcompliance for physicians and licensed independent practitioners that are in hospital employed clinics as well as performing teaching physician audits.

Completes audit assignments and other projects in fulfillment of Ethics &Compliance Department work plans. Educates physicians and clinic staff onproper clinical coding and documentation standards and rules. Demonstratesexpertise in coding, reimbursement, and auditing principles as they relate to teaching physicians and provider based clinic settings. Communicates with department leadership, physicians and physician practice staffs regardingcomplex coding and auditing issues and current coding regulations.

Supervisesoutpatient coders for the hospital employed practices. Keeps informed regardingcurrent coding regulations, professional standards and hospital/departmentpolicies and procedures and effectively applies this knowledge.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or- GED. Formal education in coding preferred. Formal education in medical terminology,anatomy and physiology or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum one year medical office experience incoding preferred. Working knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding standard sand practices.

Certification/Licensure:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) & Certified Evaluation& Management Certified (CEMC) preferred.
